TRAINING
Welcome to the Tipperary Athletics Archives website. A compilation of athletics race results in the county throughout the years.
Tipperary has had a long tradition of athletics and running events, producing many fine athletes throughout our sporting history. We have been steeped in the traditions of organisations such as National Athletics & Cycling Association of Ireland (NACAI) formed in 1922, the Amateur Athletic Union of Eire (AAUE) and Bord Luthchleas na hÉireann (BLÉ) formed in 1967 who were all eventually amalgamated to form what we know today as Athletics Ireland.
It is envisaged that the Tipperary Athletics Archive will be a homage to all who helped to organise and develop our sport across the villages and towns of our great county. By archiving the race records it is hoped we will be providing all athletic enthusiasts with a data base of race results recorded to be kept in perpetuity for future generations.
I also acknowledge that many of our great athletes, coaches, club officials, and the esteemed board members of the various county organisations, have since deceased but the records of their great achievements will live on in these archive folders. It is indeed hoped that those seeking to explore their town, club or family history will find pages of great sporting prowess involving community and family members.
It is hoped that Tipperary Athletics Archive can become a resource for all clubs to utilise. Every club will be allocated a folder for the race records even those club no longer in existence. Any person can submit relevent history or recent race information you would like to have saved in the club folder.
I hope you will enjoy scrolling through what I have complied so far and that the archive can continue to grow with many more recordings of great athletics events throughout Country Tipperary.
